mein brief:Dear host family,
Thank you very much for considering my application. In this letter I would love to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is XXX, I am 21 years old and I am from Germany.
I currently live in XXX. It is a small town in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) in western Germany, near XXX.
I live with my mother, XXX (49 years old) and her boyfriend XXX (52 years old) in a small house in the center of XXX. My mother is a property manager and XXX is a roofer with his own company. I also have a younger sister XXX who is 19 years old and a biological technical assistant. She is currently in Australia for one year. My family is pretty important to me, I love them all and I am really happy about their supporting my wish to become an au pair.
There are many reasons why I want to be an au pair:
Living together with a family in a new and unknown country, taking care of children, learning something about the culture, studying at the college, meeting new friends from around world and last but not least to improving my English.
It's a big dream for me and it will be a great experience to share my life with your family for a whole year.
Now I would like to tell you something about my experiences with children.
In June 2009, I did an internship in the kindergarten “XXX”, where I had my first experience working with children of all ages: a group of 15 children from the age of 3 months to 6 years old. I took part in the upbringing and education of the child. I also supervised a small group of children at lunch time . We did a lot of indoor and outdoor activities with the children which included cooking.
Preferably, I am with children outside. It is suitable to play very well, the forest, a park or playground.
In November 2009 I did another internship in the XXX kindergarden. There were 20 children, aged from 2 to 6 years old. I helped and supported the teacher.
The children could play in different rooms. There is a computer room, a laundry room, a gym, a craft room, a relaxation room, a library and of course, the various group rooms, each with different themes to play. The coaches and teachers work and play with the children. I looked after the children in the different rooms and integrated me into the scenario, for example, I built, I had read or played with them in the roleplay room.
In addition, the kindergarten offers a huge garden with a playground and sand boxes. It was used every day. On the playground we could do much with the children, for example, I built sandcastles and played with them in the wooden house.
Furthermore, I did babysitting in two families:
2006 to 2008 I babysitted at the family XXX. XXX was 9 years old at the beginning, later then 12. I was there 2 times a month for each 3 hours. It was often babysitting in the evening, so I read and played (for example cards or board games) with XXX. We painted and sometimes we watched TV. Later, I made her ready for bed.Today, XXX is 13 and the family doesn't need a babysitter any more.
I have cared for XXX the whole last year. From January to December. I was there once a week also for 3 hours. XXX was 3 years old at the beginning, later then 4 (who is now 4). It was babysitting in the evening, so we cook the dinner togehther and I helped her to eat, we played with dolls and playmobil or other games, I also bring her to bed and helped her to brush her teeth.
I love to spend time with children because I like the lightness of childhood and their sincerity. You can even become a child again and I can also teach them something.
To give you an idea of who I am, I want to start by telling you something about me and my personality:
I would describe myself as a reliable, friendly, positive and open-minded woman, who is interested in getting to know new countries and people.
In my free time I love to do different kinds of sports like cycling, swimming or simply to be active outdoors. From 2008 to 2009 I was in a martial arts school where I practiced Wing Tsjun. Before Wing Tsjun I started judo and Kutaeka-do. Besides from doing sports, I like to go out with my friends. I also like to go to the cinema or do something with my family, like game nights, shopping or celebrate with them. Furthermore, I also enjoy reading books, listening to music and drawing pictures.
I passed my driver's license on December 2nd 2009, and I drive daily. I live in a region where snow often falls in the winter, so I am already used to driving on icy roads.
During my lessons at the driving school, I also attended a first-aid course.
Now let me tell you about what I currently do, and about my qualifications:
In June 2009 I had made my GTA with the technical college degree at the art school (XXX School) in XXX. GTA means technical design assistant for media and communications. I'm dealing with media of all kinds my duties include designing websites, writing flash-based applications, to model 3D objects, design flyers /brochures ... or producing films.
Since July 2009, I have worked as a care worker in a nursing home (XXX); the residents need a lot of care as many of them suffer from dementia and other suffer from additional diseases. This means I have to do everything for them, starting with the full dressing, feeding, changing diapers and other simple services that they need in everyday life.
My future plans after my year as an au pair are to study to become a movie director, because besides from loving to take care of people, I am also passionate about movies.
After my year as an Au pair I would like to study preferably in the U.S.
In conclusion, I would like to thank you very much for taking your time to get to know me better.
I am looking forward to being an Au pair and also becoming a member in your family and look forward to spending an unforgettable year with you all.
Love XXX
